Reading Challenges/ Dyslexia
Janelle and Katie formed Global Village Tutors after teaching in international schools and watching their students struggle to be identified for dyslexia and receive the evidence-based instruction they needed.
What began as virtual, one-on-one Orton-Gillingham approach tutoring for students who struggled with reading quickly grew into comprehensive academic and social-emotional support for students with dyslexia and/or ADHD and their families who move frequently.
Our tutors are highly trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, which engages various senses, such as sight, sound, and touch, to enhance learning and memory retention. Additionally, our tutors focus on the underlying subskills affecting student reading, such as phonological awareness, decoding skills, and reading comprehension strategies aligned to US standards.
Our goal is to provide structured, systematic instruction to help students with dyslexia overcome reading challenges and build confidence in their academic abilities.
